A construction worker died after a tree branch fell on his head while working in Chawkbazar area of Dhaka on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rubel Ahmed, 25, son of Nur Hossain from Patuakhali district. He used to live at a rented house at Krishi Bank Lane in Madartek area of Dhaka.

Co-worker Nuruddin said they were working on a second-floor of an under-construction building at Char Rastar Mor of the Chawkbazar around 9:30am, reports UNB.

While lifting materials with a crane, one rope was tied to a tree branch and suddenly the branch broke and fell on Rubel, leaving him critically injured, he said.

Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where physicians declared him dead, said inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the hospital police outpost.

The body has been sent to the morgue, he added.
