3 killed in a terrible road crash in Bagerhat

Three motorcyclists were killed in a bus and truck collision at Belai Bridge on the Khulna-Mongla highway in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat this evening.


The deceased were identified as Jamir Ijaddar, 50, Mizan Bepari, 45 and Haripada Roy, 40, all residents of Rajnagar Union under Rampal upazila.

According to local sources, the victims were returning home on a motorcycle after attending a local meeting at Bhaga Balur ground in the afternoon. When they reached Baburbari area, a passenger bus coming from behind hit their motorcycle, after which a truck also ran over them, leaving all three dead on the spot.

Katakhali Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zafar Ahmed confirmed the matter.

Emran Hossain, Senior Station Officer of Mongla EPZ Fire Service, said, "We recovered the bodies of the three victims and handed them over to the police. Traffic has since returned to normal on the highway."

The tragic deaths have cast a pall of grief in the local community, reports BSS.
