Three killed in separate road crashes in Cumilla

Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Chauddagram and Burichang upazilas of the district early this morning.


A lorry driver and its helper were killed when two lorries collided head-on due to dense fog in Miabazar area on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway of Chauddagram upazila early this morning, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Faruk Hossain of Chauddagram Miabazar Highway Police Station.

The deceased were identified as lorry driver Abdul Jabbar, 31, son of Abul Bashar of Charkamla village in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali district and helper Shakil, 22, son of Alauddin of Char Mohiuddin village in Char Jabbar upazila of the same district.

Driver Abdul Jabbar died on the spot while helper Shakil was taken to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In another incident, Akter Hossain, 28, a motorcycle rider, was killed on the spot after being hit by a drum truck in Pachora Sinduria area of Burichang upazila on Sunday morning, reports BSS. 

Separate cases were filed with Chauddagram Highway Police Station and Mainamati Highway Police Station in connection with the accidents, the SI added.
