2 killed as a truck hits motorcycle in Barishal

Two people were killed when a truck hit a motorcycle on the Barishal-Jhalakathi highway at Rupatoli Ukilbari in Barishal city early Saturday.


The deceased were identified as Jewel, 28 and Russel, 25 of Rupatoli area.

The accident occurred around 12:10 am when the Jhalakathi-bound goods-laden truck crashed into the motorcycle while they were heading towards Rupatoli Bus Terminal, leaving Russel dead on the spot and Jewel injured, said AL Mamunul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

The injured was taken to the Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead, reports UNB. 

Police seized the truck but could not arrest anyone as its driver managed to flee the scene.
