Motorcyclist killed in Jhenidah road accident

A motorcyclist was killed and another critically injured after a truck hit their motorcycle in Jhenidah town on Friday night.


The deceased was identified as Shahriar Rahman Shanto, 31, son of Shaheen Rahman of Dukkhi Mahmud Road in Arappur village of the town. 

The injured, Toton Mia, is the son of Abdus Sattar of Beparipara area in Jhenidah town.

The accident occurred around 10:00 pm in the Pabohati Kolarhat area under Jhenidah municipality.

In-charge of Arappur Highway Police Camp Mrityunjoy Biswas said a truck rammed the motorcycle in the area and fled the scene, leaving the two riders seriously injured.

Locals rescued and rushed them to the Jhenidah 250-Bed General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared Shanto dead on arrival.

Emergency Medical Officer Dr Tapas said Shanto had died before being brought to the hospital, reports BSS. 

The injured Toton Mia was later referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment, he added.
