Govt fixes sugar price at Tk 74-75 per kg

The government has fixed the price of sugar .

Dhaka, Sept 9 : The government has fixed the price of unpacked sugar at Tk 74 per kg, while the packed product will be sold for Tk75 a kg.

Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission determined the price at a meeting with traders on Thursday.

Additional Commerce Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman said sugar prices shot up to Tk 80 per kg. "We have fixed the price at Tk 75 for the packed ones and Tk 74 for the unpacked ones."

The importers will fix the price at the mill gate and wholesale level in a proportional manner, he added.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection will supervise the implementation of the price from Friday, reports UNB.
