The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Planning Ministry on Sunday urged expert officials as project heads.

Dhaka, Oct 24 :  The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Planning Ministry on Sunday urged the government not to appoint an official as director for more than one project to ensure accountability and transparency.

The parliamentary watchdog also asked to appoint expert officials as the project directors, said a Parliament press release.

The recommendation came from the committee's 13th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.

The parliamentary body also suggested providing the car facilities for Upazila-level officials of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

The meeting discussed the progress of the projects undertaken under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in 2016-2017 fiscal year.

Committee members Planning Minister MA Mannan, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttam, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Biren Sikder and Adiba Anjum Mita attended the meeting, reports UNB.
