Benapole Quarantine Plant Monitoring Officer Hemanta Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter on Monday

A total of 90 tons of onions are waiting to be unloaded after imports from India through Benapole port five days ago. As a result, the onions are being damaged there.

Benapole Quarantine Plant Monitoring Officer Hemanta Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter on Monday (December 11).

He said the consignment of onion arrived at the port from India five days ago. There are 90 tonnes of onions in the vehicle. A representative of TCB usually go there to unload these. I don’t know why they didn’t unload the onions.

Mustakin Mandal, a truck driver of these onions, said we have been waiting here in Benapole port for the last five days. The onions in the trucks are being damaged.

C & F Agent “Confidence” manager Mortaza Sharif said, “We could not release the goods failing to get a document from TCB.”

Benapole Customs House Commissioner Abdul Hakim said that the onions were not released as the C&F agent did not submit the bill of entry. Hopefully the onions can be released soon after getting the papers.
