Ansar Uddin Khan made coordinator of ICT probe body

The government today appointed retired police official Ansar Uddin Khan Pathan as the coordinator of the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) for a two-year term from the date of his joining.
 
A notification issued by the Contract & Foreign Employment Section of the Ministry of Public Administration confirmed the appointment.
 
Signed by Deputy Secretary Abu Saleh Md Mahfuzul Alam, the notification said the appointment has been made under Section 49 of the Public Service Act, 2018.

Under the terms of the contract, he must sever all professional, business, or institutional ties with any government, semi-government, or private organisation for the duration of his tenure, the notification added.

Earlier, the government on September 18, 2024, reconstituted the ICT probe body with appointment of 10 members to carry out investigation into the crimes against humanity. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification to this end on that day.

The appointees were: additional deputy inspector general (Addl DIG-retd) Md Mazharul Haque; police super (retd) Muhammad Shahidullah Chowdhury; additional police super of anti-terrorism unit Md Alamgir; additional police super, PBI (Police Bureau of Investigation), Headquarters, Md Monirul Islam; additional police super, Special Branch, Dhaka, Md Jane Alam Khan; assistant police super, traffic and driving school, Dhaka, Syed Abdur Rouf; police inspector (unarmed), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Dhaka Metro, Md Yunus; police inspector (unarmed), Charghat Model Police Station, Rajshahi, Md Masud Parvez; police inspector (unarmed) RRF, Dhaka, Muhammad Alamgir Sarker and police inspector (unarmed), CID, Dhaka metro (north) Md Mashiur Rahman.
 
Md Mazharul Haque was given the charge of the coordinator of the probe body. The government, however, on February 13, 2025, posted him at the public security division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, leaving the post of the ICT probe body coordinator vacant till now, reports BSS.
