5 secretaries, Grade-1 official sent into forced retirement

Dhaka, Jun 19 -The government has sent five secretaries and a Grade-1 officer into forced retirement.

The Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday night issued separate gazette notifications in this regard.

The secretary-level officials sent into retirement are Kazi Enamul Hasan, Director General (Secretary) of Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board, Sukesh Kumar Sarkar, Director General (Secretary) of the National Academy for Planning and Development, Muhammad Ibrahim, Chairman (Secretary) of the Land Appeal Board, Dr Md Shahid Ullah, Rector (Secretary) of the National Academy for Development Administration, Mohammad Salah Uddin, Secretary currently attached as OSD (Officer on Special Duty).

Dr Lipika Bhadra, Chairman of the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, was the Grade-1 officer sent into compulsory retirement.

The retirements were made under Section-45 of the Public Service Act, which allows the government to send any public servant into retirement without prior notice or explanation once they have completed 25 years of service.

The gazette notifications stated that the officials will receive retirement benefits as per existing rules and regulations.- UNB
