Dhaka, Oct 21 – The government has placed nine senior secretaries and secretaries holding OSD (Officer on Special Duty) status on compulsory retirement, the Ministry of Public Administration confirmed Monday night.

According to separate gazette notifications, the nine officials—Shafiul Azim, Dr. A.K.M. Matiur Rahman, Dr. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Md. Nurul Alam, Md. Azizur Rahman, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Md. Samsul Arefin, Md. Moshiur Rahman, and Md. Manzur Hossain—were all senior secretaries or secretaries during the tenure ousted Awami League government.

The notifications cited Section 45 of the Government Service Act, under which any government official completing 25 years of service may be retired without prior notice, with the approval of the President.
