The government on Tuesday approved the creation of two new administrative divisions—the Revenue Policy Division and the Revenue Management Division—to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in revenue collection and management.

The decision was taken at the 119th meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms/Reorganisation (NICAR), the first under the interim government, held at the state guesthouse Jamuna and chaired by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus. Eleven proposals on administrative reorganisation were approved during the meeting.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed reporters after the session, noting that the Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance, 2025, has already been issued. Senior government officials, including advisers, secretaries, and the Cabinet Secretary, attended the meeting.

Among other key approvals, NICAR endorsed restructuring the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare by merging the Health Services Division and the Health Education and Family Welfare Division. The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs will be renamed the Ministry of Women and Children, while its English abbreviation, MoWCA, will remain unchanged.

To boost environmental preservation, tourism, and economic potential, Satkhira district was upgraded from a ‘B’ category district to an ‘A’ category district.

The committee also approved the establishment of three new police stations: Purbachal North in Gazipur, Purbachal South in Narayanganj, and Matarbari in Cox’s Bazar. In addition, Raipura police station in Narsingdi will be split to create another station, and the spelling of Bhulli police station in Thakurgaon will be corrected.
