At least 98.82 percent target of cultivating Aman paddy has been achieved in the Khulna agriculture region this season.

At least 98.82 percent target of cultivating Aman paddy has been achieved in the Khulna agriculture region this season, an official said Wednesday.
The DAE fixed plantation target on 2, 99,110 hectares of land and production target 84,723 metric tons of clean Aman rice (1, 20,785 tones of paddy) in Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Narail in the region, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Deputy Director Md Hafizur Rahman said.
"Farmers have cultivated Aman rice on 2,95,570 hectares of land, less by 3,540 hectares or 1.18 percent against the fixed farming target," he told this.
In Khulna, farmers have cultivated Aman rice on 94,185 hectares of land, exceeded by 1,015 hectares or 101.09 percent against the fixed farming target.
Besides, Bagerhat farmers have cultivated on 71,170 hectares of land, less by 2,835 or 96.17 percent against the fixed farming target, Satkhira farmers on 88,525 hectares, less by 1,385 hectares or 98.46 percent and Narail farmers on 42,090 hectares, exceeded by 65 hectares or 101.15 percent.
Due to shortfall of rain during the seedlings transplantation period in Bagerhat and Satkhira, farmers could not able to fulfill the cultivation target, said Rahman.
The farmers now have put their all-out efforts in nursing the growing Aman rice plants on vast tracts of crop lands that have worn an eye-catching look.
