Govt to import 40,000 tons of DAP fertilizer

To meet the demand in the country’s agricultural sector, the government has taken an initiative to import 40 thousand metric tons of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) fertilizer from Morocco.



To meet the demand in the country’s agricultural sector, the government has taken an initiative to import 40 thousand metric tons of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) fertilizer from Morocco.
The fertilizer will be imported under a state contract. Each metric ton of fertilizer will cost 610 dollars, as a result the total expenditure will be 2 crore 44 lakh dollars or 262 crore 12 lakh 92 thousand taka.
According to sources, DAP fertilizer is an important for crop production. In order to meet the country’s demand, DAP fertilizer is being imported from the financial year of 2010-2011 under the state contract from Morocco. Annual demand of DAP fertilizer in Bangladesh including safety stock is about 19 lakh metric tons.
A proposal will be sent to the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase. Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will preside over the meeting
