Cultivation of quality jute in scientific method stressed

They were addressing a daylong training for jute farmers at the auditorium of Sadar upazila parishad of the town here on Tuesday.

 Speakers called for cultivation of quality jute in scientific method to get desired output and meet its local demand.

Earlier, the country used to earn huge foreign currency by exporting jute and jute goods abroad, but now the country's demand is being met by importing jute from the countries such as India. The farmers would have to cultivate quality jute in a scientific method to regain its lost glories", they also said.

They were addressing a daylong training for jute farmers at the auditorium of Sadar upazila parishad of the town here on Tuesday.

Sadar Upazila Administration and Department of Jute arranged the training under advanced technology based jute and jute seed production and extension project.

UNO Mahmud Al Hasan attended the function as the chief guest while Sadar upazila agriculture officer Sahadat Hossain presided over the function.

The training sessions were conducted by deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Khorshed Alam Sarker, assistant director of the department of jute Solaiman Ali and district jute officer Mazedul Islam as the resource persons.

The farmers were urged to be more serious and to produce quality jute following the latest method to keep pace with the modern world.

As many as 150 farmers participated in the training.
