Small, marginal farmers in Kalapara get 6000 coconut seedlings

Coconus seedlings being distributed free among small and marginal farmers in Kalapara on Wednesday 26 June 2024.



Patuakhali: Agriculture department distributed 6000 pieces coconut seedlings free of charge among 1200 small and marginal farmers in Kalapara of Patuakhali. On Wednesday afternoon, these coconut seedlings were distributed in the agricultural warehouse area of the municipality under the promotion program of the fiscal year 2023-24.

Kalapara UNO Md. Rabiul Islam handed over the seedlings to the farmers as the chief guest in the program under the chairmanship of Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Arafat Hossain presided over the function. Kalapara Police Station OC Md. Ali Ahmed, Tiakhali UP Chairman Md. Mahmudul Hasan Sujan Molla and others were present at that time.

Agronomist Md. Arafat Hossain said that this coconut tree will bear fruit within seven years. These are indigenous and high quality seedlings. He requested to plant these saplings in various open places including the yard of the house and take proper care of them. - Gofran Biswas Palash
