Agriculture fair held in Kalapara on Sunday.



Patuakhali: A three-day agricultural fair '2024' under the Kandal Crop Development Project has started in Patuakhali's Kalapara under the theme 'A country full of safe food, everyone will build a golden Bangladesh'. On Monday morning at 10:30 a.m., the agricultural fair under the Kandal Crop Development Project started with a colorful procession.

Later under the chairmanship of Kalapara UNO Md. Rabiul Islam, Deputy Director of Patuakhali District Agricultural Extension Directorate Md.  Nazrul Islam spoke as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the fair.  Kalapara Upazila Agriculture Officer  Agronomist Md.  Arafat Hossain gave a welcome speech.

Patuakhali Agricultural Extension Department Training Officer Agronomist Khairul Islam Mallik, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha, Kalapara Thana Officer-in-Charge Md. Jewel Islam, convener of the press club Md. Humayun Kabir was also present at the function. After the opening ceremony, the guests visited the various stalls of the fair and saw the agricultural exhibition.

In the fair, various stalls of Kandal crops like ol kachu, potato/sweet potato, mukhi kachu, lati kachu, pani kachu, tree potato, cassava, tricho compost, pile compost, quick compost, farm variety fertilizers were displayed along with Kandal crop cultivation rules, timing and use of various natural  fertilizers informed the people who came to see the fair.

In the president's speech UNO  Md. Rabiul Islam said, 'Agricultural market is being launched in Kalapara soon for the sale of agricultural products produced by farmers. This will reduce the interest of the middlemen, when the farmer will benefit. And agricultural products will come within the purchasing power of common people. - Gofran Biswas Palash
