Lyricist, journalist KG Mustafa is no more.



Lyricist of 'Tomare legeche atoje bhalo Chand bujhi ta jane' K.G. Mustafa is no more. He breathed his last in Dhaka after a heart attack at his Azimpur Residence at 8 PM on Sunday. He was 85. A simple but sober KG Mustafa visited the National Press Club on Saturday. He was a permanent member of the club. 

KG Mostafa was born in Begumganj of Noakhali on July 1 in 1937. He completed masters in Bangla Language and Literature in 1960 from University of Dhaka. In 1958, he started to work as trainee journalist in daily Ittehad.

In 1976, he became a cadre of BCS (Information) and joined as Assistant Editor at Department of Films and Publications. In 1996, he retired as senior editor (rank of deputy secretary) of the department. 

He worked as assistant director of many films. He has written books of poetry, rhyme and songs, and has audio CDs and cassettes. He received many awards including Bangladesh Shilpakala Padak.

After his retirement from active service he served as a voluntary homeopathic doctor at the National Press Club for many years until recently. He along with veteran journalist Ershad Majumder was associated with the publication of monthly Kabita patro since its inception for quite sometime. He has left behind two sons and a host of relatives, friends and admirers.

The Namaj-e-Janaza of KG Mustafa will be held at the National Press Club after the Zohar prayer on Monday.
