National Badminton Championship begins

Dhaka, 24 July  - 37th National Badminton Championship has begun

from Sunday at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the city,
said a press release.


State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, organized by Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF).


Youth and Sports Secretary Mesbah Uddin was present as special guest in the opening ceremony.  


National Sports Council secretary Porimal Singha and members of tournament managing committee were also present in the opening ceremony.


BBF's president and Information Commissioner Dr Abdul Malek presided over the opening ceremony.


A total of 377 shuttlers - 313 of men's and 64 of women's - from 71 teams are taking part in the championship.


After the opening ceremony of the championship, the State Minister
inaugurated the modernisation works of Shaheed Tajuddin Indoor Stadium at a cost of Taka 3.06crore.
