IBBL inaugurates Kaliakair Branch in Gazipur

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited inaugurated its 380th Branch at Kaliakair in Gazipur on 21 November 2021, Sunday. Mohammed Monirul Moula, Managing Director and CEO of the bank inaugurated the Branch as chief guest. J.Q.M. Habibullah, FCS, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank addressed the program as special guest. Md. Mahboob Alam, Senior Executive Vice President of the bank presided over the program while Mohammod Ullah, Head of Dhaka East Zone of the bank addressed the welcome speech and Mohammad Majharul Islam, Head of Kaliakair Branch thanked the audience. Jayeda Nasrin, Kaliakair Upazila Mohila Vice Chairman, Harun Or Rashid, General Secretary of Kaliakair Bazar Bonik Samiti and Abdul Haq, freedom fighter addressed on behalf of clients and well-wishers. Executives and employees of the bank, clients, well wishers and local elites were present on the occasion. Later, CRM booth of the branch was also inaugurated. 

Mohammed Monirul Moula in his speech of chief guest said that Islami Bank is the largest and strongest bank in the country. In response to the ongoing Covid-19 pendemic, the Bangladesh government has announced 28 incentive packages worth Tk 1.35 trillion, of which IBBL invested highest amount. IBBL has been playing a significant role in achieving the targets of the government by formulating appropriate strategies and providing investment in priority sectors. He said, IBBL is the largest bank of the country and the only Bangladeshi Bank amongst the top 1000 banks in the world for last 10 consecutive years. Recently, IBBL achieved UK based ‘Award for the Most Outstanding Islamic Bank 2021’ conferred by The Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA). The bank has been recognized as a sustainable bank in the Sustainability Ranking by Bangladesh Bank. More than 1100 garment industries, one thousand textile industries and more than 25 hundred agro-industrial factories of the country have been established with the direct investment of Islami Bank. Apart from playing a leading role in the garment sector, the country's largest Denim industry and sugar refinery is being run with the investment of Islami Bank, he added.

He said, Islami Bank is providing group-based investment services without collateral through the bank's Rural Development Scheme in 28,000 villages across the country. The number of members of this scheme is 14 lakh, of which 92 percent are women clients. The deposit of this bank is more than Tk.1.35 trillion. At present, Islami Bank is providing state-of-the-art services to its clients through 380 branches, 198 sub-branches, 2700 agent outlets and more than 2000 ATMs and CRM machines.
