Bangladesh Bank (BB) has restructured the monetary policy committee by replacing three deputy governors of its monetary

policy committee with three new economists chosen from outside of the central bank.

The chairperson of the economics department of Dhaka University, the director general of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies and another economist

chosen by the central bank board are the new three members.

The central bank took the decision to restructure the committee in its 430th meeting held on Sunday.

Before the latest decision of the board of directors, the monetary policycommittee consisted of internal members of the central bank.

BB Spokesperson Mezbaul Haque said this change aims to improve the formulation and execution of an effective monetary policy.
