The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has directed all banks to freeze the bank accounts of former Health Minister Zahid Maleque and his family members.

The anti-money laundering unit of the Bangladesh Bank has also instructed to suspend all the company accounts registered in their names.

The BFIU sent letters to all banks on Monday. According to the letters, banks and financial institutions have been requested to send the account-related information or documents, such as account opening form, KYC and transaction

statement, etc., within five working days from the date of the letter, in case of suspension of an account. - Special Correspondent
