BRAC Bank appoints Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as MD and CEO

Dhaka, 2 September: The Board of Directors of BRAC Bank PLC has appointed Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of the bank, effective from 2 September 2025.

Mr. Khan has been serving as MD and CEO (Current Charge) since May 27, 2025. 

Earlier, in April 2025, he was promoted to Additional Managing Director and Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking in recognition of his leadership in driving innovation, business expansion, and organizational transformation.

A Proven Leader in Banking

Mr. Khan joined BRAC Bank in 2017 as Head of Credit Risk Management, bringing about three decades of experience at leading financial institutions including Eastern Bank, AB Bank, and IFIC Bank. His career has been marked by innovation and excellence, particularly in Corporate and Institutional Banking, Transaction Banking, and Risk Management. 

He began his career with IFIC Bank and later held senior leadership roles at AB Bank and Eastern Bank Limited (EBL), where he was Executive Vice President and Head of Relationship, Corporate Banking Division. At EBL, he earned both the CEO and Chairman’s Awards for outstanding performance.

Global Outlook and Academic Excellence

Mr. Khan has undertaken international training on Credit Risk, Loan Structuring, Corporate Governance, Leadership, and International Trade in India, Malaysia, Bahrain, Germany, and Italy.

He holds a B. Com from the University of Chittagong, an M. Com in Marketing from the University of Dhaka, and an MBA. He also completed Credit Risk Assessment certification from the Omega Performance Corporation, UK, and is a proud alumnus of Cornell University, one of the Ivy leagues, USA, having completed its prestigious Senior Executive Leadership Program. – Press release
