Bappi, Anik hit tons in Bangabandhu National School Cricket

Dhaka – Shakibul Hasan Bappi, captain cum wicket-keeper of Brahmanbaria Annada Government High School and Anik of Barisal Charbaria High School scored centuries in the Bangabandhu National School Cricket Tournament at two separate venues on Monday.

Annada Government High School beat Ideal Residential School & College by 174 runs in Brahmanbaria while Barisal Charbaria High School outplayed Barisal Model School by 204 runs in Barisal.

Annada High batted first and scored 275 runs featuring a hurricane innings of 161 runs by Shakibul Hasan Bappi. Vice-captain of Brahmabaria Under-16 Cricket team Bappi furnished his 118-ball innings with 20 boundaries and six over boundaries to be adjudged man of the match.

In reply, Brahmanbaria Ideal Residential School & College were all out for 101 runs.
Shanta grabbed four wickets while Nazmul took three wickets.

In the day’s another match, Barisal Charbaria High School scored 276 runs featuring 111 runs off 150 balls by Anik.

In reply, Barisal Model School were bundled out cheaply for 72 runs.  Ariful, Mirajul and Joy claimed three wickets each.

In the day’s other matches, Kiamuddin High School defeated Hularhat School by 133 runs in Pirojpur while United Islamia Govt High beat Asmat Ali Khan Public School & College by three wickets in Madaripur.

Some 12,000 promising cricketers from 556 school teams are taking part in the Banglabandhu National School Cricket Tournament, arranged on the occasion of the birth centenary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman.UNB
