Madaripur AL leader detained while attempting to flee to India

BGB has indicated that legal action is currently being processed against him.



Cumilla, Sept 16 - Shahabuddin Ahmed (65), President of Awami League's Madaripur district unit, has been detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while attempting to flee to India.

According to a text message from the BGB, Shahabuddin was apprehended in a border area near Bibi Bazar in Cumilla, where his suspicious activities led to his detention.

During subsequent questioning, the BGB learnt that he is the president of Awami League's Madaripur unit. He reportedly admitted to being in the area with the intention of illegally entering India.

The BGB has indicated that legal action is currently being processed against him.-UNB
