The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized goods valued at over Tk 1 crore that were being smuggled into India across the borders in Sylhet and Sunamganj on Wednesday and Thursday.

In addition to the seized goods, a motorcycle, a truck, and a pickup truck were also seized, according to BGB Sylhet Battalion Commander Lt Col. Md. Hafizur Rahman on Thursday.

A special patrol team from 48-BGB conducted raids in the border areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts, resulting in the seizure of 10,180 kg of Indian sugar, 201 three-piece outfits, 270 T-shirts, 7 cows, 1,600 packets of cigarettes, 93 bottles of liquor, and 4,275 kg of Bangladeshi garlic.

The total estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 1,14,58,250 (one crore fourteen lakh fifty-eight thousand two hundred fifty). The confiscated items will be handed over to the customs, reports UNB.

He further noted that BGB's intelligence operations are ongoing to ensure border security and prevent smuggling. As part of these efforts, the smuggled goods were seized during the recent raids.
