BGB Seizes Smuggled Indian Shirts and Cosmetics in Sunamganj

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a significant quantity of smuggled Indian goods, including readymade shirts and cosmetics, along the India-Bangladesh border in Tahirpur Upazila of Sunamganj on Thursday night.


Among the seized items were 5,127 pieces of readymade shirts, 156 meters of pant fabric, 1,296 meters of blazer fabric, 20,430 meters of Punjabi fabric, and 9,000 bottles of Sunrise cream.

Lt. Col. AKM Zakaria Qadir, Commandant of BGB-28 Battalion in Sunamganj, reported that a patrol team discovered the abandoned goods in Charagaon area under Sreepur Union, approximately 200 yards from the border.

The market value of the seized products is estimated at around Tk 2.92 crore. Lt. Col. Qadir noted that the smuggled goods were likely brought into the country ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

BGB authorities assured that efforts to curb smuggling will continue in the region.
