BGB seizes smuggled goods worth Tk 174.28cr in July

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized various types of smuggled goods worth Taka 174.28 crore in July.


The para military force also seized 14 firearms, huge ammunition and explosives from different parts of the country and border areas in this month, BGB sources said.

The seized firearms and ammunitions include 10 domestic/foreign pistols, one revolver, one SMG, two rifles, four hand grenades, five magazines, 75 ammunition, 500 grams of gun powder and 11 other weapons.

The seized contraband items include 9.267 kg of gold, 19.838 kg of silver, various types of clothes, cosmetics, timber, tea, betel nut, fertilizer, coal, current net, mobile phone sets and a large amount of narcotic goods.

During these drives BGB arrested 213 smugglers, 204 Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian national for trespassing the border illegally.

In addition, 540 Myanmar citizens who tried to enter Bangladesh were returned back to their country, reports BSS.
