Gold prices in Bangladesh have increased again ahead of Eid-ul-Azha following a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The association announced that the price of gold has been raised by Tk2,158 per bhori, pushing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk238,121 per bhori.
The revised prices came into effect from 10:00 am on Monday, according to a statement issued by BAJUS.
The latest increase comes only days after the association had reduced gold prices by the same amount last Saturday, reflecting ongoing fluctuations in the market.
BAJUS said the rise in the price of acid gold, commonly referred to as pure gold in the local market, prompted the adjustment. The association said the decision was made after reviewing overall market conditions.
Under the new rates, the price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk238,121.
The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk227,331 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk194,847 per bhori. Gold under the traditional method has been priced at Tk158,689 per bhori.
The domestic gold market has experienced frequent adjustments this year. So far in 2026, gold prices have been revised 69 times, with increases recorded on 37 occasions and reductions made 32 times.
Market observers say demand for gold often rises ahead of major festivals and wedding seasons, contributing to increased activity and price movements in the local market.
