Bangladesh Cuts Gold Prices by Tk5,482 per Bhori

Gold prices have fallen again in Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) cutting the price by Tk5,482 per bhori. The new price for 22-carat gold has been set at Tk217,592 per bhori.

BAJUS announced the revised rates in a statement on Saturday, October 31. The new prices came into effect at 10am.

The association said the adjustment was made after the price of pure gold, locally known as tejabi gold, declined in the domestic market.

Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold costs Tk207,794 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk178,459. Gold sold under the traditional method costs Tk145,800 per bhori. The announced prices include value-added tax (VAT).

BAJUS said making charges for gold jewellery would vary according to design. Since VAT is included in the selling price, sellers cannot collect it separately from customers.

For jewellery exchanges, a 12 per cent deduction will apply, while purchases will involve an 18 per cent deduction, excluding making charges and the value of stones. No separate VAT deduction is permitted in these cases.

On October 30, BAJUS had reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk1,633 per bhori to Tk223,074. The latest reduction marks another substantial drop within a day.

So far this year, BAJUS has adjusted domestic gold prices 130 times. Prices have been increased 62 times and reduced 67 times, with one additional adjustment involving VAT. In 2025, the association revised gold prices 93 times, raising them on 64 occasions and cutting them 29 times.
