Commerce Adviser Stresses Awareness to Protect Consumer Rights

Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin on Sunday assured that the proper implementation of the Consumers' Right Protection Act will be ensured to safeguard consumer interests.


He made the statement while chairing the 28th meeting of the National Consumers’ Right Protection Council at the Directorate's conference room in Dhaka.

Emphasizing the importance of consumer awareness, the Adviser stated that self-correction would occur when stakeholders are adequately informed about their rights. He stressed that everyone in society holds a responsibility and should be made aware of it, suggesting that enhancing consumer rights and ethics could be included in educational programs if needed.

The meeting was attended by Commerce Secretary Mohammad Navid Safiullah, Director General of the Consumers’ Right Protection Council Md Abdul Alim Khan, FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman, CAB General Secretary Md Humayun Kabir, BSTI Director General SM Ferdous Alam, and representatives from the Directorate General of Drug Administration.
