Walton, one of Bangladesh’s leading technology brands, has received the prestigious 'Excellence in Investment Award 2025' from the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the country's economic growth and sustainable development.
The award, presented under the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) category, acknowledges Walton’s impactful investments in the electronics and high-tech manufacturing sectors.
S M Mahbubul Alam, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, received the award from Nobel Laureate and Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus at the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 held on Wednesday.
Also present at the ceremony were BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury and Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy on International Affairs, Lutfey Siddiqi.
In his remarks, Alam expressed gratitude for the honor and reiterated Walton’s commitment to sustainable industrial development and employment generation.
“Walton has created jobs for nearly 100,000 people and continues to set new benchmarks in the production and export of import-substitute products,” he said, adding that the award reflects the company’s dedication to national progress.
Highlighting Walton’s green initiatives, Alam noted the company’s efforts to align with the government’s vision for a carbon-free Bangladesh. “We’ve already installed a 6.5 MW rooftop solar project at our Gazipur headquarters, with another 13.5 MW underway. Our goal is to reach 50 MW of solar capacity across our industrial zones,” he stated.
The 'Excellence in Investment Award', introduced by BIDA, aims to recognize top-performing investors who have made significant contributions to Bangladesh’s investment landscape over the past three fiscal years (2021–22 to 2023–24).
