A two-member delegation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has met Malcolm Bacchus, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).

The delegation, led by Mahbub Ahmed Siddique FCA, Chief Operating Officer of ICAB, met at Chartered Accountants’ Hall, 1 Moorgate Place, London on May 7.

The ICAEW side included Jon Hooper, Senior Manager, International Capacity Building; Daniel Westley, Senior International Business Development Manager and Jonathan Mbewe, Senior Manager, International Development, with ICAEW President Bacchus leading the team.

AKM Fazlur Rahman FCA, Chairman of the ICAB UK Chapter, was also present at the meeting.

During the discussion, both parties explored a range of professional matters including mutual collaboration in capacity building, the integration of Artificial Intelligence in the accounting profession, the use of audit software and the implementation of sustainability reporting frameworks.

Topics such as academic curriculum, students’ pathway programs, study materials and institutional training structures were also addressed.

Both presidents agreed to include more specific provisions in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which is scheduled for renewal this year.

ICAB has been collaborating with ICAEW since 2008 as a learning and professional development partner and recognised tuition provider, reports UNB.

The first MoU between the two institutions was signed in 2009.
