Gold Price Soars to Record Tk1.95 Lakh per Bhori

The price of gold in Bangladesh has surged to a record high, exceeding Tk1.95 lakh per bhori (11.664 grams).

Jewellers raised the price by around Tk2,415, reflecting an increase in the local market value of pure gold.

The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) approved the hike during a meeting on Monday.

On 24 September, gold had already reached Tk1,94,859 per bhori.

Under the new pricing, 22-carat gold is set at Tk16,751 per gram, 21-carat at Tk15,989 per gram, 18-carat at Tk13,705 per gram, and traditional gold at Tk11,379 per gram. The revised rates will take effect from Tuesday.

Silver prices remain unchanged. The current rates are Tk311 per gram for 22-carat, Tk296 for 21-carat, Tk254 for 18-carat, and Tk191 for traditional silver.

Buyers are also required to pay a 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% making charge fixed by BAJUS, which may vary depending on design and quality.
