Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has dismissed five teachers and two other employees over disciplinary violations and other irregularities.

The decision was taken at the university's 115th Syndicate meeting on Wednesday afternoon, KUET Registrar Engr Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan told the media.

The dismissed teachers are Prof Dr Pintu Chandra Shil of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, Prof Dr Subrata Talapatra of the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) department, Assistant Professor Nibir Mondal of the Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) department, Prof Dr Masrura Mostafa of the Humanities and Business department, and Assistant Professor Shahriar Roman of the same department.

The two employees are Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry and office assistant Satyajit Kumar Dutta.

According to university sources, the dismissals followed investigations into allegations including violations of university rules, securing jobs with fake experience certificates and age-related irregularities at the time of appointment.

All seven had been under suspension for a long time over the allegations.

The registrar said the university received complaints against the employees, leading to their suspension pending investigations.

After the investigations, the authorities sought explanations from several of them with some responding while others did not, he added.

The Syndicate subsequently decided to dismiss all seven employees, reports UNB.
