Illegally hired RU employees locked down the university administrative building on Saturday.

Rajshahi – The illegally recruited persons of Rajshahi University on Saturday morning locked up the university administration building and the vice-chancellor’s residence to halt a finance committee meeting and a syndicate meeting of the university.
A meeting of the finance committee was scheduled to be held at the vice-chancellor’s residence on Saturday at 10.30 am and a syndicate meeting was scheduled on 22 June. They locked up the buildings to stop those meetings.
Newly appointed Atikur Rahman Sumon who was also a vice-president of RU Chhatra League said, we heard that in those meetings a proposal would be placed to cancel our appointments that’s why we locked up the building to stop the meetings.
RU acting vice-chancellor professor Ananda Kumar Saha said I heard the incident. I assumed a few days back that this would happen that’s why I informed the police station through the university proctor. The local politicians also know of the matter. Legal action will be taken soon.
The outgoing vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University professor M Abdus Sobhan illegally appointed 141 persons on an ad-hoc basis in different positions on the last day of his office on 06 May. Of them, 9 are appointed as teachers, 23 as officers, 85 as grade III employee and 24 as grade III employee.
The acting vice-chancellor of the university professor Ananda Kumar Saha postponed the joining of these newly appointed persons according to the direction of the Education Ministry. – RU Correspondent
