Japanese Envoy Meets DU VC to Discuss Collaboration

Japan's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Iwama Kiminori, met with Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan today to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries. The meeting took place at the university, attended by key officials including Pro-VCs Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed and Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, as well as Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.


A focal point of the discussion was the establishment of a ‘Children’s Library’ at the National Museum of Bangladesh, designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando. This library will feature important works by Japanese and Bangladeshi authors, enhancing cultural exchange.

Ambassador Kiminori emphasized the need for DU's support in this project to foster bilateral relations. Prof. Dr. Niaz assured the Ambassador of the university's full cooperation.

The Ambassador also highlighted opportunities for DU students, particularly those in the Computer Science and Engineering Department who speak Japanese, to secure jobs with Japanese ICT companies. The discussions extended to enhancing academic collaboration, including faculty and student exchanges between Dhaka University and various Japanese institutions.

Concluding the meeting, Prof. Dr. Niaz expressed gratitude for the Ambassador's commitment to joint academic initiatives.
