Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Freshets Orientation program held.

The orientation program for the academic year 2023-24 session newly admitted students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) was held on Monday, January 6, at the TSC Complex of the university. The campus was abuzz with excitement on this occasion.

In the front yard of the TSC Complex was adorned with stalls set up by 22 active social and cultural organizations of the university. Members of these organizations enthusiastically showcased their activities to attract the new students and answered their questions to satisfy their curiosity. Simultaneously, the registration process was in full swing. Fresh students were warmly welcomed with flowers during the registration process.

After completing registration, the newly admitted students took their seats in the TSC Complex auditorium at 9:45 AM. The guests arrived on stage at 10:00 AM, and the main event commenced at 10:10 AM with a recitation from the Holy Quran. At 10:30 AM, a student named Alvi Ahmed and a student named Rabeya Bosri shared their thoughts on behalf of the Freshers. This was followed by a reading from the Bhagavad Gita.

The program was presided over by the SAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif, as the chief guest. In his speech, the VC assured students and parents that faculty members are always available for their support. He emphasized that the university has a zero-tolerance policy against ragging or bullying. He warned of strict actions against anyone found involved in such activities in residential halls or classrooms. The event was attended by SAU Treasurer Professor Md. Abul Bashar and Pro-VC Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain as special guests. 

The orientation program was addressed among others by Professor Dr. Md. Arfan Ali, Proctor, Professor A.M.M. Shamsuzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Md. Zakir Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Agribusiness Management, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Professor Dr. Kazi Ahsan Habib, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Marine Science After the discussion, at 12:00 PM, Professor Dr. Md. Razzab Ali, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), presented a course layout while the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain, highlighted the prospects of agricultural graduates in Bangladesh.

The program was conducted under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Md. Ashabul Haque, Director of Student Counseling and Guidance, and moderated by Sheikh Rezaul Karim, the university registrar.
