Two buses, carrying the students, left the Kuet campus at 8 a.m. with a scheduled meeting time of 11 a.m. at the CA’s official residence in Jamuna. Before their departure, the students, some wearing red cloths over their heads and eyes, voiced their intent to present a six-point demand to the Chief Adviser. Their demands include the resignation of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Mashud Chowdhury and Pro VC Prof Dr. Shariful Islam.
The students expressed deep concerns over their safety on campus, claiming they no longer feel secure in the current environment. They also announced that they would not return to the campus until their demands were met, but they would continue their activities through online platforms.
Tensions had escalated on campus due to reports of violent attacks targeting general students who were advocating for a ban on student politics. The student organizations Chhata Shibir and Chhatra Dal have accused each other of orchestrating the attacks, which left at least 50 students injured.
In response to the protests, the Kuet administration declared a continuation of the campus-wide ban on political activities and suspended all academic activities until February 28. However, despite the suspension, students have vowed to persist with their demands, undeterred by the recent setbacks.
