The interim vice-chancellor (VC) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Professor Dr Md Hazrat Ali has resigned today amid teachers' protest.

KUET Registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan confirmed that Dr. Ali submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education today.

Earlier on May 1, Dr. Ali, a professor at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), was appointed as KUET's interim vice-chancellor. He officially took charge on May 3.

His appointment came shortly after the Ministry of Education removed former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Masud and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shariful Alam on April 25, following student-led demonstrations.

As tensions on campus persisted, Dr. Ali left KUET on May 19, citing official duties in Dhaka, amid the ongoing unrest, reports BSS.
