Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim addressed the programme as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan was present as the special guest, with Prof Dr Md Azmal Huda, Head of the Mathematics Discipline, in the chair.

The event was organized by the Mathematics Alumni Association of the university.

Among students, Md Zakirul Islam from the 2019 batch and Kashem Ali from the 2021 batch shared their memories of Shaheed Mir Mugdho.

General Secretary of the Alumni Association Abdullah Al Mamun delivered the welcome speech, while Md Anisur Rahman Palash and Nusrat Yasmin Kona conducted the event.

The KU Vice-Chancellor said, "Shaheed Mir Mugdho has become a remarkable name beyond the borders of Khulna University."

He added that Mir Mugdho was a person of great stature whose thoughts and awareness were always deeply connected to the university. "Through his martyrdom during the July Uprising, he has become eternally memorable," he said.

The VC also mentioned that several initiatives have already been implemented to honor his legacy. These include renaming the university's main gate, officially recognizing July 18 as 'Shaheed Mir Mugdho Day', and establishing a memorial corner and water station. He noted that more initiatives, including a memorial plaque, are in progress.

He further praised the Mathematics Alumni Association for its commendable initiative in launching the scholarship. "This scholarship will inspire students and deepen Mir Mugdho's memory through social welfare activities. I welcome this noble endeavor," he added.

Later, the chief guest handed over scholarships to four meritorious students of the Mathematics Discipline. The recipients were Md Anisur Rahman Palash, Noor Alam, Md Abdul Alim, and Ahsan Habib, reports BSS.
