The army will be stationed as a ‘striking force’ at Dhaka University’s main entrances during the upcoming Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election on September 9.

A three-tier security plan will see university BNCC members and the proctorial team guarding polling centers, while police will be deployed across the campus. The army will remain at seven main entrances as a rapid-response unit.

The arrangements were revealed during a briefing between returning officers and candidates for VP, GS, and AGS posts at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Tuesday. Candidates were urged to adhere to the electoral code of conduct to maintain a fair election atmosphere.

Officials stated that army personnel could enter the campus if needed during polling. After voting ends, polling centers will remain cordoned off until results are announced, with access restricted to authorised personnel only.

Additionally, the Dhaka University metro rail station will be closed on September 8 and 9. From September 2, outsiders will not be allowed in residential halls, enforced through regular patrols.

Special bus services will operate on various routes to assist voters residing off-campus. Returning officers confirmed that Dhaka Metropolitan Police patrol teams are already active and will work under their supervision.
