A man was injured following cocktail explosions at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University on Wednesday night.

The identity of the injured person could not be confirmed immediately.

Journalist Najmus Sakib’s motorcycle parked nearby was also partially damaged.

He told UNB that he was sitting nearby having tea when a cocktail suddenly landed near him, causing him to be momentarily shocked. He later discovered that his motorcycle’s fuel tank had been damaged.

The blasts, reported around 9:20 pm, sparked a protest procession by an angry crowd.

Confirming the incident, the university’s proctor, Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, said the cocktail appeared to have been thrown from Suhrawardy Udyan. A proctorial team has been dispatched, and police are conducting an investigation inside the park. No suspects have been identified yet. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the culprit, reports UNB.
