Int'l conference on Islamic finance, banking begins at DU

A two-day international conference on Islamic Finance and Banking began today at the Dhaka University (DU) under the theme “Islamic Finance for Sustainable Economic Development.”


The event is being held jointly by DU’s Department of Finance and the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan delivered the inaugural speech virtually. 

Special guests included Professor Dr. Abu Bakar Rafique, Chairman of Bangladesh Bank’s Shariah Advisory Board, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director (MD) of United Finance Limited and Omar Mustafa Ansari, Secretary General of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI).

The program featured paper presentations by international and local experts and five panel discussions on Islamic Finance Education in Bangladesh, highlighting collaboration between academia and industry, reports BSS.
