44 students get engineering dean's award at RU
Forty four students under Engineering Faculty at Rajshahi University (RU) were given 'Dean's Award' as recognition of their significant achievement in their respective academic fields.
Simultaneously, nine teachers from five departments under the faculty and two researchers were also given the Dean's Award as recognition of their laudable contribution in this field.
RU authority arranged an award-giving ceremony at its Science Building Gallery today attended by teachers, students and others concerned.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib attended as the chief guest and handed over the awards to distinguished teachers and students.
Pro-VCs Professor Mohammad Main Uddin and Professor Farid Uddin Khan attended as special guests with Professor Bimal Kumar Pramanik of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the chair.
In his address, VC Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib said talent never flourishes without recognition. By conferring the Dean's Awards, the Faculty of Engineering has not only acknowledged merit but has also inspired promising teachers and students to showcase their achievements.
He added that the Dean's Awards would serve as a model for overall academic excellence among teachers and students and expressed hope that faculties where such awards have not yet been introduced would be encouraged by this
initiative.
He also wished continued success to the award-winning teachers, researchers, and students.
At the ceremony, eight teachers from five departments under the faculty and two researchers received the Dean's Awards for excellence in research.
A Special Dean's Award was also presented to one teacher of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for authoring a high-quality book.
For outstanding results in the MSc Engineering examinations, Dean's Awards were given to 23 students from the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, two from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, three from the Department of Information and Communication Engineering, four from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and eleven from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, reports BSS.
In addition, one student received the Dean's Award for outstanding performance in the M Engineering examination.
