Following Buckingham Palace’s announcement of King Charles diagnosis with a form of cancer, his admirers around the world from commoners to celebrities to dignitaries experienced a sudden shock to accept the matter in reality. Its only 18 months Charles has been into the reign. As per the advice of the doctors, the King has suspended all his public-facing duties but continuing with his State business plus constitutional role as the Head of State.

King Charles treatment of cancer started soon after diagnosis and His Majesty is reportedly doing well and remains “hugely positive” and determined to carry on with his business as usual. Thanks Heaven, his cancer has been diagnosed in an early stage.

It is true that, although the treatment of cancer has seen a remarkable advancement within the last half-decade, still cancer remained a dreadful disease. Nevertheless, we strongly believe that the King will be fully cured through the application of the latest available treatments. And in the present context, the question does not arises of implication of the Regency Act 1937 created to the office of Counselor of State to cover the monarch’s temporary inability to perform duties due to illness or no question of abdication as well.

However it assuring to learn that HM Queen Camilla is supporting the ailing King very actively and she is determined to show her strength in King Charles hour of need.

Tanzila Rahman.

Meanwhile, we sincerely wish for the victory of His Majesty King Charles III’s in his battle against cancer and pray for his rapid recovery.
