Ceremonial draw of BB Gold Cup Football likely on January 4

Dhaka – Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) wants to start the “Mujib Borsho” celebration through an international event named after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in early January next year.

As a part of their plan, the Mujib Borsho programme will start through a ceremonial draw of the 6th Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament on January 4.

The Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament is scheduled for January 15-25 in the capital with participation of six Asian countries—Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and hosts Bangladesh.

BFF sources said it will take a couple of days to confirm the participating teams for the prestigious gold cup.

Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to start in November 2019, but it was deferred till January next year as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the BFF decided to start Mujib Borsho programme through an international tournament.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced “Mujib Borsho” from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021, which will be observed by the state gorgeously through a series of programmes including lots of local and international sports meet.

The last Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament was held in the capital in October 2018.UNB
