Imtiaz emerges unbeaten champion

Dhaka, Dec 20- Mohammad Imtiaz Chowdhury emerged undefeated

champion in the Elegant 6th Youth Under-18 FIDE Rapid Rating Chess tournament
that concluded at Elegant International Chess Academy in the city's Uttara on
Friday.

At the end of the fifth or last round, Mohammad Imtiaz Chowdhury and three
other players scored four and a half points each from five games. Mohammad
Imtiaz Chowdhury clinched the title in the tie-breaking system. Among others,
in the tie-breaking system, Kazi Obaidur Rahman Arian became the 1st runner-
up, Rayan Rashid Mughdo became the 2nd runner-up and Oitijjo Barua became the
4th.

After the games, Bangladesh Chess Federation President and former Secretary
Syed Shujauddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest and distributed prizes
among the winners.

Brigadier General (retd) M Mofizur Rahman, national instructor Afroza Hoque
Chowdhury, founder director of Elegant International Chess Academy,
international organizer Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, trainer Reasat-E-Noor,
chief arbiter Yasin Arafat and deputy chief arbiter Gulam Sarwar were present
in the prize distribution ceremony.

The event was held five round Swiss-League system and forty seven players
participated in the meet.
