Fahad, Shakil advances quarterfinal

International Master (IM) Mohammad Fahad Rahman and IM Abu Sufian Shakil advance to the quarterfinals after winning their second-round tie-breaking matches in the Spectrum Bangladesh National Cup Chess held at the Chess Federation hall-room today.


Earlier, following players advanced to the quarterfinals by winning their second-round matches. 

They are IM Manon Reaa Neer, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia, FIDE Master Subrota Biswas, International Master Md. Minhaz Uddin, FIDE Master Syed Mahfuzur Rahman and FIDE Master Mohammad Javed.

In the day's tie-breaking matches, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman defeated Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan 2-0 in rapid chess. IM Abu Sufian Shakil split point with CM Avik Sarker by sharing 1-1 point.

IM Shakil then won 2-0 in blitz chess to secure his place in the quarterfinals, reports BSS.
