Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3 as a low-pressure over North West Bay and adjoining areas moved towards north Odisha-West Bengal coasts and is now persisting over North West Bay after being intensified.
Under its influence, it has been raining incessantly in Patuakhali district since Wednesday (September 13) and the sea near the district has remained rough.
According to a source of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), there is a possibility of squally weather affecting the maritime ports, North Bay, and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
In light of the weather conditions, the maritime ports have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3. This signal serves as a warning to vessels and individuals operating in the area to exercise caution and be prepared for potentially adverse weather conditions.
Additionally, a notice has been issued to all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay region. They are advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
Kuakata-Alipur Fish Depot Owners Association President Ansar Uddin Mollah said, “As the Bay remains rough, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay region have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.”
District Meteorological Office Officer-in-Charge Mahbooba Sukhi said: “The low- pressure may turn into a monsoon depression. Side by side, rainfall may continue for next 5 days.”
